Feyenoord struggled to a slender 1-0 victory over PEC Zwolle thanks to a first half Steven Berghuis strike.

Before kick-off there was a minute silence held for Pim Verbeek, who died earlier this week. The tribute moved Feyenoord boss Dick Advocaat to tears.

Feyenoord welcomed Nicolai Jorgensen back into the starting eleven and he was the first player to go close to an opener. However, the Dane put the ball just wide.

In the 23rd minute, it was 1-0 for the hosts with Steven Berghuis driving a Tyrell Malacia cross into the net.

From that point, Feyenoord struggled to kill the game off and in the end they were thankful to goalkeeper Nick Marsman. The stopper made an excellent save to deny Dean Huiberts and then kept it at 1-0 on several occasions in the second half.

The victory moves Feyenoord into the top seven while PEC Zwolle are 15th.
