Feyenoord have capped a good week by beating Groningen 2-0 in De Kuip.

After the wins over Emmen and CSKA Moscow, Feyenoord went into the game looking to seal a wonderful week by beating Groningen. They had to replace Justin Bijlow in goal after he fell out during the warm-up.

Groningen were the better side in the early stages and they created several chances. The best of which saw Remco Balk hit the crossbar.

Feyenoord were quiet but in the 40th minute they found the net through Mark Diemers. However, the goal was disallowed by VAR with Bryan Linssen standing in an offside position.

Ahmed El Messaoudi shot wide for Groningen early in the second half, and in the 50th minute Feyenoord punished the miss. Lutsharel Geertruida headed in a corner for his third goal of the season.

In the 84th minute, Damil Dankerlui was sent off for pushing Ridgeciano Haps in the box, and Steven Berghuis netted the resulting penalty.

The victory means Feyenoord are now fourth while Groningen are 7th.
