Feyenoord tried to sign Van Persie in the summer but couldn’t agree a deal with Fenerbahce. However, the Turkish club are reportedly looking to offload the veteran in January as they look to trim their wage bill.
Speaking to NOS, Martin van Geel does not rule out the signing of Van Persie and stated they are working on a deal, “There is very little in football excluded, so this is not.
“Van Persie is an incredible icon and it would be nice if he could close his career at Feyenoord, but I do not dare to say that, but we are still working in the background.”
Jordy Clasie has also been linked with a return to Rotterdam. Van Geel is open to the midfielder coming back, but not in the coming month, “Jordy is leased to Club Brugge and we have very good players in his position, but he is also in the back of his mind, he may come back again, because he is someone who absolutely has to go back to Feyenoord.”
No. RVP is now to old and Can’t stay healthy. The money would be better spent elsewhere. Guidetti or Janssen should be the targets. As for Clasie in the summer yes. Need another top flight defender as well. Maybe Kongolo on loan?
Wish we’d look at different names rather than always talking about the same old players but really dont think we need anyone, we struggled for a while with the form of Diks and injuries to Jan Arie, Botteghin and Haps but van Beek has returned strong, Tapia has been great and Malacia has proven himself. Jorgensen has found form, Vente is a good second striker, Berghuis is on fire…. we really have little use for van Persie and no use for Clasie
I bet you said no to kuyt too?
Kuyt was a real leader and a true Feyenoorder.
