Fortuna Sittard booked their second win in a row after a 2-1 victory at struggling Heracles Almelo.

Last weekend, Fortuna booked their first win of the season with a 3-2 victory over Willem II. The appointment of Sjors Ultee has brought confidence to the Limburg side and that was evident to see in Almelo on Friday night.

After VAR ruled out a goal from Heracles forward Rai Vloet, Fortuna Sittard opened the scoring in the 31st minute. Sebastian Polter’s cross was turned into his own net by Marco Rente.

On the hour mark, Fortuna made it 2-0 as Emil Hansson capitalised on a poor pass from Teun Bijleveld before setting Polter through to calmly slot the ball into the net.

Heracles then created chances but Delano Burgzorg hit the bar before Silvester van der Water fired wide. In stoppage time, Burgzorg did pull one back but it was nothing but a consolation.

Fortuna rises to 15th in the league after the victory and are now one spot below Heracles.
