Fortuna Sittard pulled away from the drop zone after a 3-2 victory over RKC Waalwijk.

The clash between two of the worst defences in the Eredivisie was bound to feature goals and it did not disappoint in the first-half.

After eight minutes, Hans Mulder headed in Clint Leemans corner to give RKC the lead. However, Fortuna equalised five minutes later with Mark Diemers curling a nice strike into the net.

In the 31st minute, Leemans capitalised on an error from Tesfaldet Tekie to curl RKC back in front. On the stroke of half time, Fortuna equalised when Vitalie Damascan finished after both Felix Passlack and Amadou Ciss both had efforts blocked.

Just before the hour mark, Damascan headed Fortuna Sittard in front and that proved to be the winning goal. RKC’s chances of a comeback were ended when Darren Maatsen was shown a red card.

Fortuna Sittard are now 13th while RKC remain bottom of the table.
