Fortuna Sittard continued their good form on Saturday with a 2-1 victory over Sparta Rotterdam at Het Kasteel.

Fortuna Sittard have been rising the table in recent weeks while Sparta have gone the other way and were in need of a victory to boost their chances of a top half finish.

Henk Fraser decided to hand powerful striker Danzell Gravenberch his first start of the season, but it was Fortuna who took the lead in the 23rd minute. Lisandro Semedo netted his fifth goal of the campaign.

Sparta hit back eight minutes later with Gravenberch bundling the ball into the net from close range.

Five minutes into the second half, Sebastien Polter headed Fortuna Sittard back in front. Fraser tried to turn the game with a number of substitutions but Fortuna held on for the three points.

Fortuna sits 11th while Sparta are five points behind them in 12th.
