Timothy Fosu-Mensah was delighted to make his first Manchester United appearance in three years on Thursday.

The Dutch international last appeared for Manchester United in May 2017, but started at left-back for their clash with Crystal Palace on Thursday.

Fosu-Mensah played the full ninety minutes as United came away with a 2-0 win which keeps them in pole position for a Champions League spot.

After the game, Fosu-Mensah told MUTV, “It feels good. I’m happy to play for the club again. How I felt at left back? Comfort is a big word, but I know the position. I was ready.”

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was happy for the defender, “Timothy has worked hard. I’m happy for him. I know all about knee injuries, so I can put myself in him. He kept up the whole game and played the way I expected him to be: good.

“He is fast and physically strong. Those are important qualities. We thought he deserved to play and he showed it. He will feel it tomorrow but I’m happy for him.”
