The 18-year-old was handed his Premier League debut by Van Gaal this season, and has gone on to make four first team appearances including a full ninety minutes in the 1-0 win over Watford.
However, van Gaal’s future is under severe scrutiny with fans calling for the coach to be replaced, and reports linking former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho with the club. Speaking to De Telegraaf, Fosu-Mensah has backed Van Gaal to remain at the club.
He said, “Van Gaal is a man with real personality.
“I still think it’s great that I was able to make my debut under him.
“Do I hope he stays? Of course!”
