stam aajajDe Boer has been head coach of Ajax since 2010 and guided the club to four straight Eredivisie championships, but that record has seen his name linked with a number of other clubs. Tottenham Hotspur were heavily linked to De Boer last summer, while Barcelona and Inter Milan are also believed to be admirers of the 44-year-old.

When De Boer does eventually move abroad the man himself believes that Ajax already have the perfect replacement at the club in the form of either Jaap Stam or Wim Jonk.

De Boer told AT5, “”I think Jaap has the qualities to be a good coach. He has never trained at the highest level, but yes, I did not either.”

“If we have a successor within our own ranks, whether that be Wim Jonk or Jaap Stam, then we should do that. These guys know how we want to play. ”

Stam is currently a youth and defence coach at Ajax, while Jonk is in charge of the Ajax A1’s.
