Frenkie de Jong sat out training on Thursday with a minor knee problem, and may not be fit for Ajax’s clash with Heracles Almelo on Saturday.

De Jong had to leave training yesterday with a, seemingly minor, injury to his knee.

Speaking this afternoon, Ajax coach Erik Ten Hag said, “De Jong left yesterday’s training session and is a doubt for tomorrow’s game. We will see how he feels after today’s training if he feels 100% fit he will play.”

De Jong rejoined training today, and based on photos posted by Ajax on Twitter of the training, he looked to be fully participating, it remains to be confirmed if he’ll be available for Saturday.

If he isn’t 100% fit, Ten Hag may want to consider resting him this weekend so he will be ready for Tuesday’s last 16 Champions League clash with Real Madrid.

The midfielder, who is joining Barcelona in the summer, will be keen to impress against the Catalan club’s fierce rival.
