The Dutch international has been a regular in the Barcelona midfield since making the switch from Ajax in the summer. His performances have earned mixed reviews in the Spanish media so far.
Speaking to Mundo Deportivo, De Jong said on his performances at Barcelona so far, “In these first months at Barça I make a lot of minutes and that is always a good sign in the first year. For now I am reasonably satisfied with my performance, but not entirely. I am sure I can do much better.
“I think I have played some good matches, but it could be much better. If you come to a new club you always need some adjustment time. That’s normal, but I hope I play better as the season progresses.”
At Barcelona, De Jong plays further forward than at Ajax, but this is not something that bothers the Oranje international, “A lot of people ask that question, but it is not something I am concerned with. I just want to play as much as possible, I don’t really care about what position it is. When I play I am happy.”
