After Jelko van der Wiel handed his resignation in, the full board of directors at Heerenveen have decided to follow the president out of the club.
A statement from the club read, “Around SC Heerenveen is a lot of turmoil caused by the management crisis at the club. It appeared that the Board since December 2013 as a collective had started well, but over time more and more clearly it showed that despite the commitment and contribution of all individual directors, the sustainable success which required mutual cooperation was becoming increasingly tougher.”
“Despite several attempts it was not possible to get everyone on the board again on one line.”
“The board has in the past period in close consultation with the members of the board had plenty of discussions to arrive at a collective resignation.”
Until a new board is formed the foundation board shall take charge along with executive directors Wim Dijk, Hans Vonk and Ben Takkenberg.
