Galatasaray have confirmed that Jan Olde Riekerink has been relieved of his duties as head coach.

The 53-year-old was expected to be sacked after the clubs 2-1 defeat to Kayserispor on Sunday and on Wednesday morning a statement on the Galatasaray website confirmed the dismissal.
The former Gent and FC Emmen boss became Galatasaray head coach in March last year and guided his side to the Turkish Cup final, which they won with a 1-0 victory over fierce rivals Fenerbahce. However, fans have not been happy with the progress this season and with the club sitting 3rd in the league, Riekerink has been given his marching orders.
