Standard Liege have completed the signing of Utrecht left-back Nicolas Gavory.

Utrecht signed the 24-year-old from Clermont Foot last summer for a fee of €250,000 but have now sold him for €3.1 million.

The deal ensures that Utrecht will remain in the black financially this season. Utrecht director of football, Jordy Zuidam told the club’s website, “We have to sell a player every year to write black numbers. We already have that transfer in June. That ensures peace in the organisation. “

Utrecht will not enter the transfer market to sign a replacement yet with John van den Brom set to give Leon Guwara a chance during pre-season.
