Giovanni van Bronckhorst spoke to the NOS ahead of the new Eredivisie season.

Van Bronckhorst maintained that his side are ready for the new season and that they can retain the Eredivisie title. Feyenoord entertain FC Twente in De Kuip this Sunday.
He said, ”Of course I think back to last season. When you speak with people and you are reminded of our title triumph. But the reality is that it is now in the past and we must now look ahead to the new season.
”We have to give everything from the first game. We have a lot of confidence due to winning the Eredivisie last season and it is important to get off to a good start so that can help us in our title defense.
”We can retain the title again of course. I am convinced that we can do it with the current squad that we have. We have to make sure that our new players bed seamless in to the current squad and that the current squad players maintain their level.
On the possibility of signing Robin van Persie, he added, ”I am a massive fan of Robin van Persie and you cannot compare him with Dirk Kuyt. You notice that in previous weeks there is so much written about Robin van Persie linking him with a return to Feyenoord.
”He has spoken in the past of how it would be nice to finish his career at Feyenoord like I did and Dirk Kuyt too but he still has a long way to go in his career.”
