FC Twente earned their second away win of the season with a 2-0 victory over Go Ahead Eagles in Deventer. Manchester City loanee’s Yaw Yeboah and Bersant Celina netted the goals. 

twent-go-aheThe visitors took the initiative from the kick-off and could have been ahead as early as the second minute but Yaw Yeboah saw his effort saved by Theo Zwarthoed. The Go Ahead goalkeeper then saved well from Enes Unal and Yeboah again before Bersant Celina struck the post with a shot.

Eventually, a minute before the break Twente took the lead and it was Yeboah who finally got the better of Zwarthoed after being sent through on goal by Unal.

After the break, Go Ahead Eagles finally came into the game and Sander Fischer went close with a header, while Marcel Ritzmaier’s long range effort tested Nick Marsman. With ten minutes to go Celina struck the post again for Twente and the young midfielder eventually settled the game after finding the net with a placed shot. Go Ahead were reduced to ten men late on when Jarchinio Antonia saw red for a nasty challenge on Stefan Thesker.

The win lifts Twente to fifth while Go Ahead are 15th.
