go ahead antTwente’s Luc Castaignos had the first big opportunity of the game, but the in-form striker fired wide of goal when he really should have hit the target.

Minutes after Castaignos’s miss Go Ahead Eagles took the lead as Jarchinio Antonia was played through on the right hand side, and his low shot from a tight angle found a way through Nick Marsman’s legs.

The second half saw Twente pushing for the equaliser, but Quincy Promes could only fire over the bar, before Dusan Tadic fired straight at the Go Ahead keeper.

The best chance in the second half came for Castaignos with minutes left, but the striker could only hit his half volley wide with the goal gaping.

Twente now sit third, three points behind Twente, and should Ajax beat Cambuur they will be 11 points off the top. Go Ahead Eagles move away from the bottom three and up to 11th with what could prove to be a precious three points.
