With only one year left on his contract with Ajax, Hendriks has been allowed to leave to sign for Eredivisie new boys Go Ahead Eagles.

Hendriks told the club’s official site, “The club Go Ahead with the entourage at the stadium, the fanatical fans and sometimes intimidating atmosphere has determined my choice. I think that’s fantastic. I had several options in the Eredivisie, but Go Ahead was the most vigorous. From the three-year contract that has offered me the club speaks a lot of confidence.

“It is now up to me to repay that trust. I’m not afraid of the competition by Leon de Kogel. If he stays, I’m going to fight. At every club there is competition.”

Hendriks scored fourteen goals in 28 games last season for Jong Ajax in the Eerste Divisie.
