Gosens was born in Germany, but also has a Dutch father. Before the corona virus outbreak, Gosens was set to be picked in the Germany squad.
However, speaking to BILD, Gosens has stated he is still open to representing Netherlands, should Ronald Koeman come calling.
He said, “I grew up 500 meters from the Dutch border and I have dual nationality. I also have an emotional connection with the Netherlands. The decision is not as clear as it might seem. If national coach Ronald Koeman calls first, I would definitely don’t say no right away. “
Gosens admits he is closer to the German national team, but he has heard nothing from the DFB, “No, but the DFB has other problems to solve right now. As soon as the ball rolls again, I hope to be as close to the national team as it was before the crisis. I would like to realise this dream soon,”
