Mario Gotze has explained his decision to join PSV Eindhoven on deadline day.

On Tuesday, PSV pulled off a major coup before the transfer window shut with Gotze arriving on a free transfer. The former Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund star has signed a two-year deal.

Speaking to the PSV website, Gotze said, “I had some pleasant conversations with Roger (Schmidt) And I started to think more and more seriously about a step to the Netherlands. A lot of things came my way this summer, but I am an emotional person and I can make the choices I want. I am ready for a completely different challenge and I found it here in Eindhoven.”

Gotze has been working hard since being released by Dortmund, “After that I kept myself fit, so that I can start a new adventure in good shape. I look forward to training in a group again and working towards the games.”
