The KNVB have named Almere City boss Fred Grim as the new coach of Netherlands U21’s.

grim u21Grim immediately leaves his position as Almere City boss after two years with the Eerste Divisie club, and signs a deal with Jong Oranje until the end of the 2017 U21 European Championships.

The 49-year-old replaces Remy Reijnierse, who had been filling in after Adrie Koster resigned, and coached the U21’s during the recent Toulon Tournament.

The former Ajax goalkeeper said on the appointment “This is a great challenge,”

“I’ve always been involved in the development of talented players and look forward to forging a team of the greatest Dutch talent and achieve results.”

“Obviously, the goal is qualification for the European Championships in 2017 in Poland.”

Netherlands U17’s boss Maarten Stekelenburg replaces Grim as Almere City boss.
