Alfons Groenendijk has decided to stand down as head coach of ADO Den Haag with the club currently sitting second bottom in the Eredivisie.

On Saturday, ADO Den Haag were comfortably defeated 4-0 at Heracles Almelo and that appears to have been the final straw for Groenendijk.

ADO Den Haag confirmed on their website on Monday morning that Groenendijk had stood down with immediate effect.

The 55-year-old was appointed as ADO boss back in February 2017 and he guided the club to 11th, 7th and 9th place in the last three seasons. However, after a terrible start to the campaign, ADO sit second bottom with only three wins from their opening fifteen games.
