Groningen climbed into the top six as they saw off ten man RKC Waalwijk 4-1 on Saturday night in the Euroborg.

zeefuik bEarly on, Nick van der Velden saw his free-kick well saved for the hosts, while Aurelien Joachim saw his goal bound shot blocked for RKC.

RKC were reduced to ten men on 37 minutes, when Jonas Ivens, on loan from Groningen, went through the back of Genero Zeefuik, earning him a straight red card.

In the second half, Groningen moved forward constantly, but could not find the opening goal until the 68th minute, with Nick van der Velden firing into the top corner from the edge of the box.

Two minutes later it was 2-0, with Genero Zeefuik finish off with a simple header, after the ball came back off the bar following another header.

However, RKC halved the deficit minutes later when Joachim slid to finish off a cross from Remy Amieux to give the ten man away side hope.

In injury time, Groningen found their third, as on loan midfielder Krisztian Adorjan went on a good run before finishing with a low shot into the bottom corner. video here

In the 94th minute Groningen added a fourth goal, with Michael de Leeuw finishing at the back post following a free kick.

The win moves Groningen into the top six, while RKC stay in the bottom three after another disappointing defeat.
