Groningen general manager Hans Nijland has confirmed an approach from Barcelona for midfielder Ludovit Reis and expects a deal to be done.

Earlier this month the news broke that Barcelona were following the 18-year-old midfielder.

As a guest on Tafel met Kees on Sunday, Groningen general manager Hans Nijland confirmed that Reis is set for a move to Barcelona.

He said, “We were approached by an intermediary who reported that a delegation from Barcelona would be visiting.

“I thought that was special. They were led by José Bakero. We talked seriously with that and also had a second conversation with it. Rudovit is also informed. We are not clear yet, but we are seriously noting that he is leaving for Barcelona. “

Nijland would not confirm that Groningen want €6 million for the Netherlands U19 international but added that Reis would join the Barcelona B squad, “You must never mention amounts during negotiations. The approach is that he is meant for Barcelona B. He has been shown a training course. He is training with the first selection in preparation to join them.”
