Groningen are still looking for their first win since the winter break after being held to a 0-0 draw by ADO Den Haag.

The visitors got the first chance of the game but Bjorn Johnsen saw his shot cleared off the line by Deyovaisio Zeefuik in the third minute.

The home crowd were incensed after the referee failed to send off Tom Beugelsdijk who appeared to use his elbow’s in challenges with both Mimoun Mahi and Tom van Weert. The defender escaped with just a yellow card for the second violation.

Shortly break the break ADO Den Haag came close again but  Danny Bakker headed against the crossbar. For Groningen, Van Weert got their only real chance of the half but was denied by Robert Zwinkels.

Groningen were more dominant in the second half but that didn’t result in chances. Fifteen minutes before the end, Kasper Larsen got the best opportunity but headed straight at Zwinkels. At the other end, Sergio Padt denied Johnsen, Sheraldo Becker and Nasser El Khayati.

The draw means Groningen stay 13th while ADO Den Haag are 8th.
