Bel Hassani, 26, signed for AZ in 2016 after impressing with Heracles Almelo for several years. The attacking midfielder has been unable to rediscover his form though in Alkmaar and has fallen well out of favour with outgoing manager John van den Brom. Groningen will be hoping Bel Hassani will link up well with their current in-form attackers Mimoun Mahi and Ritsu Doan.
Groningen’s transfer business is far from over though, with managing director Hans Nijland set to exercise the good relationship between his club and Ajax, commenting to Fox Sports, “We grumble about Ajax in the North, but we can still be very satisfied with the warm relationship that exists between our clubs.”
Rumours state that Groningen are chasing loan deals for Ajax’s latest young talents Kaj Sierhuis, a striker, and midfielder Dani de Wit. Mateo Cassierra, a striker already on loan from Ajax, would return to Ajax should any deals take place after a disappointing record of only one goal in ten appearances.
