Groningen have confirmed the loan signing of talented Japanese midfielder Ritsu Doan from Gamba Osaka.

Doan joins Groningen initially on loan, but the club have the option to make the deal permanent if the midfielder impresses this season.
The 19-year-old is regarded as a big talent in his homeland after making his Gamba Osaka debut at the age of 16. He also impressed for his country in this summer’s U20 World Cup, where Japan reached the knockout stage.
Doan is Groningen’s fourth signing of the summer, joining Mike te Wierik, Django Warmerdam, and goalkeeper Kevin Begois.
