Groningen has signed Dutch attacker Alessio Da Cruz on loan from Italian side Parma.

The 23-year-old appeared to be on his way to PEC Zwolle, but at the last second decided to choose Groningen instead.

Technical director Mark-Jan Fledderus told the Groningen website, “Alessio is a talented forward, who adds creativity and speed to the selection. He gives us extra options up front and can handle different attacking positions. Despite his relatively young age, he has already gained the necessary experience in various football countries. Alessio speaks the language and knows the Eredivisie, so hopefully he can adapt quickly in Groningen and further develop his talent here. ”

Born in Almere, Da Cruz played for FC Twente and Dordrecht before joining Italian side Novara in 2017. He then moved to Parma a year later, and has since been loaned to Spezia, Ascoli, and Sheffield Wednesday.
