Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola is pleased for Giovanni van Bronckhorst, who was confirmed as the new head coach of Rangers this week.

Van Bronckhorst replaces Steven Gerrard as the head coach of the Scottish champions and takes on his third big role in management after Feyenoord and Guangzhao R&F.

After leaving Feyenoord, Van Bronckhorst worked with The City Group and spent some time with Pep Guardiola.

The Man City boss was asked about Van Bronckhorst’s appointment during his press conference, “A big compliment to him. Rangers is one of the biggest clubs in Scotland, it’s a wonderful opportunity for him.”

Guardiola has remained in contact with the former left-back since working with him recently, “He’s been here for a while, we’re still in touch. He is a very fine man, I wish him all the best,”
