hiddink bSpeaking to AD, Van Nieuwenhuizen said, “Guus is  very keen on the job and once KNVB contacts we could come to an agreement real soon. ”

However, AD also reports that the unveiling of Hiddink as new boss is not a foregone conclusion. A KNVB spokesperson told the news paper not to expect an official appointment before Christmas.

Although Hiddink himself has not openly spoken about his future as yet, his agent is convinced that Hiddink’s recent hints towards Oranje only mean thing: He really wants this position.

Other than Hiddink, current Feyenoord boss Ronald Koeman is also thought to be a possible candidate for the job, but no official have been made to date.

Should Hiddink be appointed as new Holland boss, he will be returning to a position he also held between 1994 and 1998.  Under his guidance, Holland reached the quarter finals of EURO 96 and went even further (semi final) the following tournament, World Cup 98.
During EURO 96, there was a major brawl within the Holland camp leading to Hiddink expelling Edgar Davids from the squad after negative comments by the curent Barnet boss in the press.
