ziyech twe herThe midfielder had been expected to leave Twente all summer and finally sealed his move to Ajax on Tuesday with the Amsterdam club paying €11 million for the 23-year-old, who signed a five-year deal.

Ziyech told NOS, ”I really wanted to play for Ajax during the previous weeks when I thought that a transfer might be possible and then I spoke to Marc Overmars and I am really pleased that things have worked out. I always stated that I would only go to a team that have a good manager and that is the case with Peter Bosz and the way he has of playing and I want to be a part of that.

”My choice to come here was made pretty quickly when I spoke to Peter Bosz and received a tour of the stadium. In terms of my career choices I take things step by step and in the case of signing for Ajax this is the perfect step for me. Ajax is a top club in the Netherlands and I now have the chance to win trophies and I will only become better as a player and therefore continue to grow further. Rumors persisted of a move abroad from FC Twente but looking to the future it is far better to make such an eventual step being an Ajax player than a FC Twente player.

”I am looking forward to working with my teammates and as regards to Ajax having a lot of midfielders it is healthy to have competition for places and you can only become a better player and the final decision of the starting lineup rests with the manager. I hope to develop as a player here at Ajax and I can assure everyone that I plan on doing my very best for the club.

”As a player you need to focus on what you do and not being distracted by things that happen off the field for example the uncertainty regarding FC Twente’s place in the Eredivisie at the end of last season. I am pleased to be joining Ajax at this moment in time of course there is pressure with such a transfer but I enjoy the pressure.”
