go-ahead-de-kongGo Ahead Eagles went into the game bottom of the table, but a first half goal by Jarchinio Antonia was enough to record an unlikely win.

De Koning stated afterwards that he thought it was a fully deserved victory for the club from Deventer, “Before the game today and in the week leading up to it we had to find the right mix in terms of starting lineup and a game plan. We knew that speed would play a key role in attempting to beat Feyenoord and that it would require us to adopt a different attitude than we usually do for our home games. I can only compliment the players in the way they played today.

”We knew that we had to be sharp on the counter attack and retain possession well. I thought we fully deserved our victory today. We knew that they would attack relentlessly especially in the last 30 minutes of the game and we dealt with them well.

”Throughout the game we played some great football and our 1-0 victory is fully deserved. Getting knocked out by Jodan Boys in the Dutch cup was difficult to accept but we have played well in recent games away at FC Utrecht and we deserved more in our away game against PEC Zwolle. Today’s result also means that we are not bottom of the league going in to the international break and that gives us a good feeling.”
