Hedwiges Maduro will continue his career in Cyprus after agreeing to join Omonia Nicosia who have won the Cypriot title 24 times in their history.

The 32-year-old midfielder was a free agent after leaving Groningen at the end of the season and will have a medical on Thursday.
Maduro said, ”I wanted another adventure. I am now 32 years old and I just want to play football. I have had contact with Boy Waterman the goalkeeper of APOEL Nicosia and my old teammate in Jong Oranje and we spoke about life in Cyprus. It is a nice country ”.
Maduro debuted for Ajax in 2004 under then Ajax manager Ronald Koeman. He has also played for Spanish teams Valencia, Sevilla and Greek team PAOK. He then returned to Netherlands with Groningen in 2015.
He won 18 caps for the Dutch national team. During his time at Ajax he won two KNVB Cups and with Valencia he won the Copa del Rey in 2008.
