Heerenveen are up to third after a simple 4-1 victory over Sparta Rotterdam at Het Kasteel.

Henk Fraser dropped Benjamin van Leer to the bench after Sparta’s poor start to the campaign with Maduka Okoye the new number one at the club.

On Sunday, Okoye was powerless to stop Heerenveen from racing to a 3-0 lead by half-time. Benjamin Nygren opened the scoring in the seventh minute, before Jan Paul van Hecke’s header made it 2-0. Just before the break, Henk Veerman added the third.

On the hour, Veerman got his second and Heerenveen’s fourth to seal the simple victory.

Sparta hit the post through Lennart Thy and Abdou Harroui, with the former pulling one back late on through a penalty.
