Heerenveen showed their best side last week in a 3-0 victory over VVV but they headed into Saturday’s clash looking for their first home victory in five months.
The hosts were the better side in the first half and on the stroke of half-time, Mitchell van Bergen gave them the lead after combing with Jens Odgaard.
In the second half, PEC Zwolle failed to make an impression and Heerenveen could have increased their lead. However, Chidera Ejuke and Ibrahim Dresevic missed good chances.
Heerenveen held on for the 1-0 victory and have now climbed to 9th while PEC Zwolle are 14th.
