Heerenveen fought back from 2-0 down to earn a 2-2 draw against crisis club ADO Den Haag.

Alan Pardew’s side turned up in Friesland in desperate need of a win and amid rumours of unrest in the dressing room. Their opponents Heerenveen were also keen to end their winless run in 2020.

Heerenveen were the better side from the start but in the 30th minute, ADO took the lead out of nothing. A free-kick was hurled towards goal by John Goossens and Omar Bogle got the final touch to send it into the net.

Ten minutes later, another Goossens free-kick resulted in a second goal. This time, Rodney Kongolo turned the midfielder’s set piece into his own net.

In first-half stoppage time, Joey Veerman pulled one back for the hosts as Heerenveen finally turned one of their many chances into a goal.

The hosts then pushed for the equaliser in the second half, but ADO Den Haag held out until the 75th minute. Substitute Alan Halilovic found the top corner with an excellent strike.

Heerenveen poured forward looking for the winner but it remained 2-2. The point means Heerenveen are ninth while ADO are still 17th and four points adrift in the automatic relegation spots.
