The Frisians confirmed the 18-year-old’s arrival through Twitter and confirmed that Ødegaard would be presented to the media at 10.30am UK time on Tuesday.

Heerenveen have not yet announced how long the Norwegian will stay at the club, but Spanish newspaper Marca believe that Ødegaard may stay at the Abe Lenstra Stadion until the summer of 2018.

The highly rated attacking midfielder joined Real Madrid from Strømsgodset IF in early 2015 but has struggled to break into the Spanish giants first team and plays most of his matches for the club’s reserves.
