Friday night’s Eredivisie action saw Heerenveen and Utrecht battle to a 2-2 draw in the Abe Lenstra stadion.

hee utrHeerenveen began the game brightly and they had the lead after eleven minutes with Luciano Slagveer prodding the ball into the net after it fell to his feet inside the box.

However, Utrecht completely turned the game on its head before half time with Heerenveen defender Jerry st Juste playing a crucial role. The young centre back conceded a penalty on the half hour mark after bringing down Yassin Ayoub in the box and Sebastien Haller calmly slotted in the equaliser from the spot. Four minutes later St Juste failed to close down Bart Ramselaar quick enough and the midfielder’s strike flew through his legs and into the net to give Utrecht a 2-1 lead.

Heerenveen looked for the equaliser in the second half and eventually found it with twenty minutes left. A corner wasn’t dealt with by Robbin Ruiter and after the ball came down off the bar, Reza Ghoochannejhad prodded in from close range. The Utrecht defence called for a foul after a challenge by St Juste on Ruiter but the referee allowed the goal to stand.

The home side came closest to finding the winner but Henk Veerman headed just wide of the post, while Robbin Ruiter had to push a deflected Zeneli strike just wide.

The draw means both sides are still searching for their first win of the season. Heerenveen move onto two points, while Utrecht earn their first point of the campaign.
