The defeat leaves Vitesse needing a miracle to qualify from their Europa League group with only games against Lazio and OGC Nice to come.

Fraser said, ”Maybe going 1-0 down after 3 minutes was a sign that it was not going to be our night.

”We did not perform well and there are always reasons as to why that happened. We were irritated about conceding an early goal as we spoke about potential threats of Zulte Waregem during the run up to the game. I always try to analyze and put defeats into context.”

‘As a manager and squad we have failed collectively tonight and in Europe this season in.

”We missed a chance tonight and there is a lot of frustration from our point of view.

”We now have to pick ourselves up and be ready for the Eredivisie game against PEC Zwolle on Sunday.”
