Fraser said, ”To win a trophy for the first time in the club’s 125 year history is very special indeed. To be in the final for the first time in 27 years and to qualify for Europe too.

”This also for the supporters who have deserved this and perhaps our victory in the cup this season is a surprise for them.

”We have learnt in the second half of the season to stay in games and we have players that can always score. AZ Alkmaar are a good example for us. They play good football but also have games where they do not play well but they win. We need to do this more often in the league. But we have proved we can do it in the cup this year.

”We did not take enough initiative in the first half but in the second half we managed to turn it around and take our chances and dare to try to win the game.

”I managed to take the occasion in and enjoy the game. When we saw our supporters when arriving at the stadium it only served as a motivation for us.

” We have written history for Vitesse Arnhem and this is fantastic for the club and we will enjoy this ”.
