ADO Den Haag went into the match with two wins in their last three matches, and they took the lead after only ten minutes when Mathias Gehrt slotted in from close range after good work by Mike van Duinen on the left wing.
Heracles seemed shocked by the goal, but out of the blue they equalised on the half hour mark, Ousamma Tannane playing a one-two with Ilass Ben Hassani before firing past Martin Hansen.
The equalising goal kicked Heracled into life, and before the break they added two excellent goals, firstly Thomas Bruns bringing down an excellent Bryan Linssen pass before sliding the ball past Hansen, and then Tassane added his second with a lovely finish.
ADO Den Haag failed to recover in the second half and Heracles should have added further goals, Wout Weghorst heading their best chance wide.
Heracles have now opened up a four point gap to bottom side Dordrecht, but they are still four points behind ADO Den Haag and safety.
