Heracles Almelo moved three points clear of the bottom three with a crucial 2-0 win over PEC Zwolle.

Heracles goalkepeer Bram Castro denied Jody Lukoki an equaliser before the home side doubled their lead just after the break with Bryan Linssen capitalising on some terrible defending before beating Hahn.

The chances of PEC Zwolle making a comeback were ended when Trent Sainsbury was shown a straight red for bringing down Wout Weghorst who was heading through on goal. With the extra man Heracles comfortably held on to move level on points with Excelsior in 14th, while PEC Zwolle sit eighth.
