Vincent Vermeij scored the only goal of the game as Heracles defeated Willem II 1-0 in Almelo.

The match was a boring affair until the 36th minute when Bartholomew Ogbeche put forward his entry for miss of the season. Two Heracles defenders collided which allowed Fran Sol in on goal and the Spaniard then set up Ogbeche for a simple tap-in, but the Nigerian somehow put the ball wide.

Just before the break, Heracles made Willem II pay for the miss with Brandley Kuwas allowed to stride forward unchallenged before setting up Vermeij for a simple goal.

Willem II went in search of the equaliser in the second half but Jordy Croux, Ogbeche and Mo El Hankouri all missed good chances. At the other end, Jamiro Monteiro shot just wide for Heracles.

The hosts held on for the victory which puts them 11th and three places above Willem II.
