Announcing the news on their official website, Heracles have decided to exercise the option within Samuel Armenteros’ contract for an additional year. The extension means that Armenteros will now stay at Heracles until 2018, the club also revealed that they’re in discussions with Armenteros over a possible long term deal.

The Swedish striker is Heracles Almelo’s top scorer this season with thirteen goals. Therefore, Heracles will be desperate to tie Armenteros down to a longer extension if possible.

In addition to Armenteros, the club also announced new one-year contracts for both Gor Agbaljan and Reuven Niemeijer as they look to tie down expiring players.

Heracles also disclosed that the club is going to sit down for talks with 34-year-old Mark-Jan Fledderus in the coming months to see if they can reach a deal on an extension to his expiring deal.

On their official Twitter account, Heracles said: “Coming months will be used to investigate whether we can maintain Mark-Jan Fledderus for the club.”

Finally, in a busy day for Heracles, it was announced that Thomas Bruns had rejected a new deal offered by the club and would leave in order to seek a new challenge.

The midfielder, who joined Heracles in 2011 and spent six and a half years at the club, will now leave on a free transfer at the end of the season. It is not known at this stage where his next destination might be.
