Heracles Almelo climbed up to fourth in the Eredivisie table after seeing off De Graafschap 2-1 in the Polman Stadion.

heraAfter the hopeless defeat at FC Twente last weekend, Heracles were looking for some home comforts against bottom side De Graafschap. However the visitors went the closest to scoring in the early stages with Karim Tarfi seeing an effort come back off the post.

Just after the half hour mark the woodwork came to Heracles rescue once again with Bryan Smeets crashing a fierce strike against the crossbar. From that effort Heracles broke and after Brahim Darri cut in from the left, the winger sent a curling strike into the bottom corner.

In the second half the home side were comfortable and they eventually doubled their lead on 73 minutes as Thomas Bruns sent a free-kick past Hidde Jurjus.

Andrew Driver pulled a goal back for De Graafschap but it proved too little too late and Heracles held on for victory. Heracles leapfrog NEC and Vitesse into fourth, while De Graafschap remain cut adrift at the bottom.
