The Almelo club have been on the lookout for a new striker since Wout Weghorst left for AZ Alkmaar and on Tuesday confirmed that Vermeij had signed a contract until 2019.
Heracles Managing Director Nico-Jan Hoogma told the club’s official website. “With Vincent we think we have signed a talented striker. We are very pleased with his arrival. ”
The 21-year-old started his career with Ajax, but after failing to break into the first team he left for De Graafschap in 2014. The talented forward helped the club achieve promotion to the Eredivisie in his first year with 18 goals, but couldn’t prevent their relegation last season despite netting nine times.
Vermeij is not eligible to play for Heracles in the second leg of their Europa League tie with Arouca this Thursday, but should make his debut when the season gets underway this weekend.
