The Twentse derby between Heracles and FC Twente finished 1-1 in Almelo.

her-twenThe match started in typical derby fashion with a number of challenges and chances at both ends. Joel Pelupessy forced a good save from Nick Marsman while at the other end Mateusz Klich nearly gave Twente the lead but his shot was deflected just wide.

With five minutes left in the first half and Enes Unal free kick struck the arm of Mike te Wierik and Twente were awarded a penalty, which Klich calmly netted. However, Heracles struck back immediately with Samuel Armenteros nodding in Brandley Kuwas’s cross.

In the second half Heracles started strongly with Pelupessy and Armenteros both going close, but it was Twente who finished stronger and Dylan Seys forced Bram Castro into a save before Kevin Jensen blazed wildly over the bar.

The point means Twente are sixth while Heracles are down in 13th.
