FBL-EURO-2016-NED-TRAININGDepay has been the undoubted star of the Eredivisie this season, and will complete his move to Manchester United over the next week.

National team boss Guus Hiddink, who has criticised the strength of the Eredivisie since taking over as Netherlands coach, believes the move will be great for the 21-year-old.

Hiddink told De Telegraaf, “He comes to play on a higher stage. There are new rules, and that is good for him to experience… He’s ready to go. Lots of hard contests, higher speed and different rules in the dressing rooms. That’s good for his development and then also good for the Netherlands.”

With the injury to Arjen Robben ruling the winger out of the crucial European Championship qualifier against Latvia next month, Depay is likely to take centre stage for Hiddink as he looks to relieve the pressure on his position.
