Coach Andre Villas-Boas was sacked on Monday after Tottenham were defeated 5-0 by Liverpool on Sunday at White Hart Lane, and Hiddink had been mentioned as a replacement.
However his agent Cees van Nieuwenhuizen has told Voetbal International that Hiddink is unlikely to join Tottenham after signing a pre-contract deal with the KNVB to become Netherlands national team coach after next summers World Cup.
He said, “I would be surprised if Hiddink goes to Tottenham. I can hardly imagine that happening.”
“Guus has just signed a deal with the KNVB and he has also recently turned down other offers from other countries to be active at the World Cup in Brazil.
“So the rumours surrounding Guus and Tottenham shouldn’t be taken seriously.”
Hiddink has been out of work since leaving Russian side Anzhi earlier in the year, and has previously worked in the English Premier League with Chelsea. However his commitment to the national team appears to scupper any chance of the 67-year-old returning to England.
I don’t think he is the wise choice as the next oranje coach. He previously was the coach and allthough he has a worldwide reputation , things has changed in international football. just look a bert van maaryk , first time to be a national coach, maintain a good long unbeaten record and lead until the final WC. hiddink has proved his reputation and everyone knows it. I think better we give a chance to someone else like van maaryk.
Very good point but hiddink can handle players with big egos and big personalities.
