From mid-January, Guus Hiddink will act as an adviser to interim PSV Eindhoven boss Ernest Faber.

Six years ago, Hiddink worked as an adviser to then PSV coach Phillip Cocu and he will take up the role again in the new year.

Ernest Faber confirmed the news at his press conference on Friday, “Guus once helped me to become a trainer. I have consulted with the club about which people support the club who could support us. At the first team and at the academy. As a top trainer if he wants to act as a sounding board, that is great for the entire club.”

Hiddink was most recently in charge of the Chinese Olympic team but was sacked back in September. The 73-year-old has been PSV’s coach on two occasions, helping the club win the European Cup, six Eredivisie titles, and four KNVB Cups.
